Affirmative Action and Equity/Chairperson: Frances Ranney

The Affirmative Action and Equity Committee examines the University's progress in achieving gender equity and equality in employment and student-related policies, procedures and practices. The committee conducts programs for the university community aimed at reaching the goals of gender equity and equality on campus.

Career Development/Chairperson: Margaret Winters

The Career Development Committee concerns itself with developing and presenting programs tht enhance women's career advancement.  Its projects include development of a mentoring program for employees, a project to determine women's employment concerns.  The Career Development Committee is currently sponsoring a series of Brown Bag Luncheons that address the concerns of women in the workplace.

Health Sciences/Chairpersons: Cathryn Bock and Rosanne Dizazzo Miller

The mission of the Health Sciences Committee is to provide education and support in women's health issues, especially those working in the health sciences fields, and to aid in improving professional status and career satisfaction in these fields.

Information/Chairperson: Laura Birnie-Lindemann

The Information Committee disseminates information pertaining to Commission programs, activities, and sponsorships throughout the academic community. The Infomaton Committee is also responsible for the producion the COSW Newsletter and maintenance of the Commission's Web site. The COSW Newsletter is distributed two times a year to every full-time employee on campus and is designed to communicate the mission and the activities of the COSW to the entire WSU campus.

Membership/Chairperson: D'Lillian Forrest

The Membership Committee seeks individuals who have demonstrated an interest in or support for women's issues.  The membership committee helps both members of the Commission and volunteers select an appropriate committee, prepares new members information packets, maintains a record of attendance, serves the Chair in an advisory capacity, and works to provide a smooth transition between one year's Commission to the next.

Outreach/Chairperson: Adrianne Stefanski

The Outreach Committee of the President's Commission on the Status of Women is committed to increasing awareness of gender equity. The committee brings issues of concern to women to the attention of the University community. Its projects have included campus-wide presentations, such as organization of receptions to recognize accomplishments of campus women; sponsorship of presentations by scholars on issues of concern to women; coordination of events featuring women leaders external to the University.

The Outreach Committee awards professional development stipends to students and full-time non-academic employees to attend a workshop, conference, or significant event associated with minorities, affirmative action, or issues concerning gender rights. Applications may be downloaded below.
